The Gold Was Made Fa’ Her Residency at RUBY Projects is presented through a partnership between Gold Was Made Fa’ Her (GWMFH) and LaRucheHTX, the residency program of RUBY Projects.

RUBY Projects is a Houston-based curatorial platform and residency initiative supporting contemporary artists through exhibitions, public programming, and production-focused residencies. Through LaRucheHTX, RUBY provides space, fabrication support, and curatorial dialogue for artists working across installation, craft, and new media.

Gold Was Made Fa’ Her (GWMFH) is a 501(c)(3) arts and healing movement dedicated to advancing economic justice, the legacy of Black women artists and their work, and radical care for Black women and communities across the Black South. The Gold Was Made Fa’ Her Artist Residency celebrates and champions Black women artists by providing curatorial support, tangible resources, and space to amplify their stories and creative practices.

Together, RUBY Projects and Gold Was Made Fa’ Her present The 2027 Gold Was Made Fa’ Her Artist Residency, bringing together two Black women artists in Houston and across the Gulf Coast for a three-month residency rooted in artistic practice, the interior worlds of Black women, cultural memory, and community stewardship
