About The Artist

TAMARA SANTIBAÑEZ (b. Athens, GA, 1987) Tamara Santibañez is a multimedia artist living and working in Brooklyn. Their work is rooted in subcultural semiotics, exploring the meanings we assign to materials and accessories. Enlisting inanimate objects as stand-ins for human figures and relationships, Santibañez complicates the undulating exchange between power and vulnerability, otherness and assimilation, generational expectations and individual capability.
